Responsible Mining “Ecologo”

Since the SIM congress in Dijon (see CR Mine-Responsable-Ecologo-ACP-Energies), the ACP Energies Mines Group has continued to learn about the IRMA (Initiative Responsible Mining Assurance) standard, with its advantages but also its limitations for smaller mines that do not have the means (investment in time and budget) to subscribe to it. Our meetings in 2025 identified the need to work upstream of the mining cycle (before and during the feasibility study) with the involvement of local experts. For several years now, Quebec universities, in partnership with the Quebec Mining Exploration Association (AEMQ), have been disclosing an Ecologo-Exploration Mines standard for small and medium-sized mines, covering the entire mining chain as specified in the Feasibility Study. Several African countries have Geology universities/Earth Sciences institutes with teaching and research resources that could provide valuable input from local experts. Ecologo certification for mining exploration demonstrates to investors and stakeholders a commitment to environmental…

Round Table Kazakhstan 2025, 5th of December

Investigation into a possible synergy between the ACP Energies Mining Group and the BRGM, which has just launched a Franco-Kazakh partnership on critical minerals   1. Summary: (in preparation for the MEDEF Round Table of December 5, 2025, bringing together French and Kazakh ambassadors, ministries and businesspeople on critical materials and minerals)   The ACP Energies Mining Group, which dedicated its 8th meeting (see: www.acp-energies.org ) to Kazakhstan, discussed the 25-year partnership (R&D, Training) between Kazatomprom and Orano. Synergy with Critical Minerals should be sought there. According to a recent EU (Euractiv) note on Europe's challenge in launching projects funded by the €12 billion Critical Raw Minerals Act (CRMA), ESG being the EU's only sustainable competitive advantage in Central Asia, it is necessary to integrate audited remediation plans, community consultations, and modern processing technologies (water-efficient plants, closed-loop waste management systems, and smelters powered by renewable energy). Proposal to the Minister of the Economy and Finance for a French strategy for energy and climate

To halt the worsening climate crisis, what we urgently need to do today is to stop increasing the level of carbon in the atmosphere, and to organize our economic activities in such a way as to reduce it without delay. This is the content of the proposal made by ACP Energies to the Minister of the Economy and Finance as part of the consultation organized at the end of 2023 by the former Ministry of Energy Transition. In January 2025, this proposition becomes even more topical: the unabashed “drill, baby drill” doctrine of the new Trump administration will not be limited to the United States, and will undoubtedly have a knock-on effect in the rest of the Fossil Carbon Empire (Middle East, Africa, Latin America, China, India, Russia, Canada, Norway, etc.) We will therefore have to redouble our efforts to decarbonize the atmosphere if we want to limit the looming…
